Laboratorio Rupestre

 An artist from Sweden who ended up in Jumilla, Spain with a parcel of pre-phyloxera vineyards planted with Bobal, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet & Mourvedre. There is no set recipe and the wines follow Erik´s instinct & the rhythms of nature from vintage to vintage.

The extremely low yields, the ancient vines, the energy of place, the hands on vinifications and the maturation in old amphorae combine with Eriks hands to create a masterpiece in each bottle. Annual production does not exceed a few thousand bottles which are distributed directly to some of the best resturants in Europe.

In my humble opinion, Eriks wine belongs among some of the top production in Spain. The wines are not made with modern techniques but a modernist approach to ancestral methods.

He himself is in essence, just a winemaker. He takes it upon himself to personally oversee each step of the winemaking

The conversation is never just about wine, it is about life, about philosophy and about the state of things. His wines are not for everyday easy drinking and while they might also come with a price tag, even in their youth they give you the impression that your view on what wine could be has changed.

The wines are powerful, black as ink, packed with fruit & supple. Me manages to give each cuvee the sophistication of painted portrait while taming the rusticity to an approchable level. They are a pleasure to smell, to look at and to taste.
